When I Stand Back and Look

Scripture

But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God,
And your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear.

We hope for light, but behold, darkness,
For brightness, but we walk in gloom.
We grope along the wall like blind men,
We grope like those who have no eyes;
We stumble at midday as in the twilight,
Among those who are vigorous we are like dead men.

Isaiah 59:2, 9b-10

He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation, that they would seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; for in Him we live and move and exist

Acts 17:26-28a

‘For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope. ‘Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. ‘You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.’

Jeremiah 29:11-13

Delight yourself in the LORD; And He will give you the desires of your heart.

Psalm 37:4

The Lyrics

Is this loneliness I feel?
‘Cause the pain is much too real
An emptiness I wish I never knew
‘Cause sometimes I know You’re there
And sometimes I just don’t care
I don’t think I even think of You

But when I stand back and look
At the pages of my book
I see Your mighty hand wrote every line
And though the writin’s on the wall
Sometimes it’s hard to hear Your call
So all I ask is take Your will and make it mine

Yes for me You are the One
And for me You gave Your Son
A love so deep I just don’t understand
Though You gave to me Your word
You would think I hadn’t heard
It’s so hard to think I’m in Your plan

But when I stand back and look
At the pages of my book
I see Your mighty hand wrote every line
And though the writin’s on the wall
Sometimes it’s hard to hear Your call
So all I ask is take Your will and make it mine

Deep inside I love You so
On the outside it don’t show
I guess it’s just my pride that binds me down
Though I think I’ve got it bad
Still I know You’re twice as sad
‘Cause all You’ve bought it seems I haven’t found

But when I stand back and look
At the pages of my book
I see Your mighty hand wrote every line
And though the writin’s on the wall
Sometimes it’s hard to hear Your call
So all I ask is take Your will and make it mine

Dear Lord I ask please take Your will and make it mine
