In 2007 my home church, First Baptist Church of Pflugerville, began a new building program to build a new sanctuary and remodel our current worship center. The theme for the building program was “For Tomorrow’s Generations” because we do this not for ourselves but to provide a place of worship for our children and for our growing community in Central Texas. The church sent a packet of information about the program in the mail to all of its members. When I received the packet in the mail, I began reading through it. As I read, I began to feel God’s Spirit speaking to me. And as it is many times when God speaks to me, it was manifested as an urging to write a song. This song is the result.

One generation shall praise Your works to another,
And shall declare Your mighty acts.

There’s a plan that spans the ages, made before the world began
It’s a plan sent to redeem the soul of man
As our fathers did before us let us leave this legacy
Of a generation serving faithfully

For tomorrow’s generations we will plant the fields today
