Don’t Be Afraid

About this song

In 2017, our pastor preached a sermon series called “Don’t Be Afraid”. I was inspired by those sermons to write this song. This was also soon after Hurricane Harvey hit the Texas coast and many of my friends and family were greatly affected by it. The references to storms and wind, etc. were a result of that difficult time. I have not recorded this song as yet but plan for it to be on my next CD.

There are times in our lives filled with uncertainty
Times when we think we’re sure to fail
Full of doubt and afraid of things we cannot see
In despair with our spirits weak and frail

But the Father has promised He will lift you up
Upon wings like an eagle you will soar
Trust in Him as the One who made you as you are
Hear His voice for He longs to tell you more

Chorus:
Don’t be afraid, you are My child
The storms may rage for a little while
By My own hand your plans are laid
You are My child, don’t be afraid

So whenever the skies above are dark and drear
And the winds blow so strong you cannot stand
Don’t look around you; instead look up for God is near
He says “Come and take shelter in My hands”

Don’t be afraid, you are My child
The storms may rage for a little while
By My own hand your plans are laid
You are My child, don’t be afraid

Don’t be afraid, I’m by your side
Through darkest day, I will be your guide
For by My hand your plans are laid
You are My child, don’t be afraid

You are My child, don’t be afraid
